Change IP Or Not To Change IP ? That?s The Question

It is a frustrating experience trying to access a website and finding out that you are blocked from it. This is especially true for travelers outside US who want to get connected to their loved ones at home. Just because the country they are in imposes some restrictions, their freedom has been limited.

Another dreadful experience would be finding out that because of your IP address your accounts were intruded. Your log-in data and passwords have been exposed. Your identity has been stolen.

Unscrupulous people thrive in the internet. They use different sorts of technology to track your surfing activities. Once they know much about you, you will be surprised at how they are able to do those things at your expense. Unless you change IP addresses, encrypt your Internet communications and become anonymous, you are a helpless prey to them.

It can help you make safe and secure online. Businessmen will benefit by anonymously researching their competitors. Travelers will be able to securely verify their finances or access blocked websites.

IP Changers use encryption to avoid theft of personal information. While traveling, data is converted into non-readable form. These will not give any useful information to any one who ?steals? it.

However, there is one problem when changing your IP address. This is when you are using your credit card. There is a technology called fraud scrubbing used to verify credit card transactions online. It helps in stopping the use of stolen credit cards.

There are many fraud scrubbing service providers in the internet. It uses two sets of parameters. These are financial and technical parameters. The results are given as ?fraud score?. It is a combination of the weights of the two sets of parameters.

When you change IP address and use your credit card, there will be a mismatch of addresses. The country of the computer making the charge will be different from the address on the bank account. When this happens, your transaction may be declined.

In fraud scrubbing, a customer?s IP address is matched against the address on the credit card. If they don?t match, the transaction will not be processed or will be subjected to further review. Using your credit card over and over again will mean too many declines.
